Jeremy Schmidt, SMART program client, has made an impact on Foundation for Blind Children in the short time he’s been a client. He’s making a difference in the community by advocating for audible crosswalks in the East Valley, is part of the Lion’s Club in Gold Canyon, and spends time outdoors when he finds the time.
Jeremy recently hiked Camelback Mountain using his white cane to guide him up the rocky terrain. Not wanting any special treatment, he climbs just like other hikers, but uses his cane to direct his steps. After making it to the top of one of the toughest trails, even without sight, he took a moment to take in the view. Take a moment to read about Jeremy’s outdoor adventure.
