On Wednesday, March 19 Foundation for Blind Children will be hosting a sneak peek of the movie “BLINDSIGHT”, set to premiere nationally Friday, March 21. The movie stars world-class adventurer, Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind man in history to reach the summit of Mount Everest, as he and Sabriye Tenberken of Braille Without Borders, take six blind Tibetan students on a climb of the Rombuk Glacier on the north side of Mt. Everest.
Having climbed Mt. Everest, as well as the Seven Summits – the highest mountains on each of the seven continents, Braille Without Borders was impressed by Weihenmayer’s courage, dedication and experience; so much so that they invited him to Tibet to teach their students mountaineering and rock-climbing. “BLINDSIGHT” is the documentary of their journey and ascent to the top, where they’ll proudly stand together at 21,500 feet, higher than any team of blind people in history.
The premiere, taking place at the Celebrity Theatre, will include a private cocktail reception preceding the premiere, which is to be followed by a Q & A session with Erik Weihenmayer and Sabriye Tenberken and Paul Kronenberg of Braille Without Borders. All proceeds from the event will go toward Foundation for Blind Children.
