SHARP UPDATE
January 2009
SHARP Update is a regular publication of the Foundation for Blind Children, 1235 E. Harmont, Phoenix, AZ 85020
Welcome to 2009!
We here at SHARP hope that everybody had a safe and fun winter break. Hopefully, while you were on break you stayed active, or maybe you made it one of your New Year?s resolutions. Whatever your resolution might be, stay determined and stick to it; now is the time to start something new. If starting to come to SHARP is one of your resolutions please read on to decide what activities you would like to sign up for.
As the Sharp program continues to grow, it is more difficult for me to personally contact every family for every event. Please read the information that is sent home. Post it on the refrigerator or in some other prominent place. Always replace it with the most current information as it is mailed to you so there is no confusion as to program dates or times. To sign up please call the SHARP line and leave a message by the sign up deadline. It doesn?t take more than 30 seconds and it provides me with vital information I need to plan programs. If you have questions please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for your help! ~Cody

We are meeting at the central FBC at 9am and go on our hike. Once we finish with the hike there are two options to choose from for the rest of the day. Option 1: go on a field trip to the Hall of Flame firefighter?s museum or Option 2: Cooking Club where you will stay at the central FBC and be cooking with Amanda. Please note there are limited spaces for cooking club. When you call the SHARP line to sign up for this day please let us know which of these you would like to do.

Snow Trip and Sleepover
January 31st- Feb 1st is our annual trip to the snow. Let?s hope that there is snow! We will meet at the central FBC at 9:00 am. From here, we head up to Flagstaff for the day and then return to the Central FBC for a sleepover, which is like a pajama party. If you want to come to the sleepover, you must come for the entire trip.
Be sure to wear warm/waterproof clothes. If you do not own a pair of boots, I recommend extra shoes. It?s also a good idea to put on your socks, then a plastic bag over your socks, and then put on your shoes. The plastic bag will help to keep your feet from getting wet. If your feet stay dry, you?ll be warmer. You should also have a warm hat and gloves. If you don?t have gloves, bring extra socks and a couple more plastic bags and we?ll fix you up so your hands stay warm.
You also need to bring a change of clothes, your PJs and a sleeping bag or blanket and a pillow to sleep in when we get back to the central FBC. A sleepover is different than a lock in because you will actually be sleeping. Please bring a lunch that does not need to be heated, because we will be eating up in Flagstaff. If your parents are picking you up at the Foundation on Sunday, you need to be picked up before 9:00am.
