The Foundation for Blind Children is pleased to offer this training workshop based on expressed needs of classroom teachers and parents across the Valley. "The Dynamics of Healthy Integration" is a workshop specifically designed for those with no prior knowledge of visual impairments and who will or do have such a child in their classroom.

Target Audience:
This workshop is open to personnel who have or will work with a student who has any visual impairment. This includes classroom teachers, special area teachers (art, music, P.E., etc.), paraprofessionals, administrative personnel, etc. Parents, caregivers, and others with an interest in better understanding a child with a visual impairment are also welcome.

Workshop Purpose:
To better understand the needs of students with visual impairment in the classroom and to create an environment that will encourage healthy integration into the academic and social areas of the curriculum.

Program Content: 

Presenters:
Jacki Daniels, M.Ed, Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment
Jacki has been working in the field of Blindness for 25 years in the public, private and residential school settings and as an itinerant teacher.
Sandra Stirnweis, MA, Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist, Certified Low Vision Therapist
Sandra has been working in the field for more than 20 years with an emphasis on low vision and multiple disabilities.

Materials:
Each participant receives a binder of materials to take back and share with staff and the publication When You Have a Visually Impaired Student in Your Classroom (published by the American Foundation for the Blind) specifically written for your needs.

Cost:
$40.00 includes all materials and snacks (lunch is on your own)
