Braille On Demand

Providing Braille Transcription of Educational Materials to School Districts

Braille On-Demand is a transcription service to school districts and charter schools providing quick turn-around Braille conversion of quizzes, worksheets, tests, handouts, articles, newsletters, forms and PowerPoint presentations that are not covered under normal textbooks services.

FEATURES:
-- We use experienced certified Braille transcribers, particularly in Nemeth for math and science, which is the most difficult to transcribe.

-- We use state-of-the-art software and high-speed embossers to create tactile graphics.

BENEFITS:
-- Students have equal access to classroom educational materials in the same timeframe as sighted peers.

-- Students are able to have access to educational materials in Braille hard copy or e-format through their Certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (CTVI).

-- All Braille transcription needs are provided on a per student basis for a flat fee.

THE PROCESS:
-- Required purchase order from the school district or charter school.

-- The CTVI must complete a request form for each document to be transcribed, not to exceed 10 print pages.

-- Documents should be submitted in e-format, when possible.

-- The transcribed document is available in e-format to be Brailled at the school site or may be Brailled at FBC and ready for District pick-up.
