5 km run & 1 mile Walk
Sunday, March 4, 2012
Kiwanis Park, Tempe AZ
Introduction:
Stride for Sight is a unique event for all ages and abilities, with blind and sighted runners competing together. The event will help fund the comprehensive programs at the Foundation for Blind Children, an organization that assists all individuals who are blind or visually-impaired. The event features a 1-mile walk (wheelchair accessible) and a timed 5K run/walk.
Blindfold Challenge: For those looking for adventure, the Blindfold Challenge is an opportunity to compete in the 5K run blindfolded with a sighted guide. Running blindfolded takes competition to a whole new level and is sure to be a life-changing experience! The Blindfold Challenge will help participants understand what anyone with vision impairment already knows—being blind won’t hold you back, you don’t need your eyes to see what’s inside you, and fear is the only disability. You provide your own sighted guide.
Be a Guide: Sign up to be a guide for a visually-impaired runner or walker. Help someone achieve their goals with this rewarding opportunity. We will host at least one group training session.
Course: Kiwanis Park, 5500 S. Mill Avenue, Tempe, AZ 85283
