PRESCHOOL TEACHER
PRESCHOOL TEACHER
Term: Full-Time (35 hour week)
Department: ASDB/FBC Cooperative Preschool
Duties:
- Provides direct service in classroom setting (adaptive, personal, educational, and recreational skills). Provides therapeutic services under direction/monitoring of registered therapist.
- Provides education and support to families.
- Coordinates child’s program with family members.
- Works with Preschool Coordinator and Director of Program Services for program planning.
- Prepares reports (assessments, IEP’s, developmental evaluations, progress/transition, etc.), and maintains records.
- Trains, supervises and evaluates teaching assistants.
- Plans for appropriate utilization of volunteers.
- Orders materials and supplies for classroom.
- Serves as liaison with other agencies and individuals in the community to promote successful program results.
- Evaluates community referrals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred), from an accredited college or university in education of the visually handicapped or special education with certification in multi-handicapped or early childhood development, by the Department of Education (VH, deaf/blind, MH with experience in visual impairment). Must be able to be certified in Arizona.
- Knowledge of the early development of children and the special learning needs of visually impaired children; techniques and procedures of teaching; functional vision assessments, counseling techniques and community resources.
- Ability to adapt materials and equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with children and their families.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Helpful to be bilingual in Spanish.
