PRESCHOOL TEACHING ASSISTANT SUBSTITUTE

Term: long term substitute (30 hour week)

Department: ASDB/FBC Cooperative Preschool

Duties:

• Assist teacher in teaching a variety of skills to visually impaired and/or multiply impaired children.
• Follow through with teacher assigned tasks and suggestions from therapists.
• Work directly with students individually and in groups under the direction of the teacher.
• Provide assistance to teacher in special tasks such as feeding, toileting, lifting and recording of progress notes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School education
• Should possess a genuine interest in working with children
• Ability to follow directions; adapt to new and/or unique situations.
• Demonstrate progressive knowledge and skill in performance of duties
• Maintain respect and confidentiality of children.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with visually impaired children and their families.
