Fred Green

Every little thing (.mp3)
Lose the attitude (.mp3)

Band Bio:
Down home funk, fat grooves, blistering riffs and unmatched energy are a few things that come to mind when describing the music of Fred Green, a well established band hailing from Tempe, AZ. Fred has a signature sound that draws together such styles as rock, reggae, jazz, and funk to form a tapestry of technically proficient grooves and powerful hooks. The members draw upon their vast experience and talent to put together an exciting, high energy performance. Chris Peeler fronts the group with strong lead vocals while showcasing his impressive drum set chops. Sammy Lersch fattens the groove with solid, deep bass lines that rumble the earth. With the groove set in a steady foundation, Todd Minnix ices the cake with his vocal harmonies and a mind-bending guitar. The recent addition of Jason Pritchard provides another layer of vocal harmonies, percussion and stage presence. The quirky, fun-loving nature of the group always adds an extra bit of flavor to the show. Combine these elements and you have Fred Green, a musical force to be reckoned with.

Along with Fred Green comes an army of hit producers and management, directing the group through the battlefield of today's music industry. With the recent release of their forth full length album "Still Burnin'", they have put together an all star team of music industry professionals. The band is under the management of Bendiksen Productions, based out of Denver, Colorado. The management team worked closely with the group on the production of the new album and continues to guide the band towards success. Taking the advice of the Bendiksen staff, the album was recorded at Mind's Eye Digital in Scottsdale, Arizona then sent to Grammy winning engineer Jason Corsaro (Soundgarden, Peter Gabriel, Madonna) at the Barber Shop in New Jersey for mixing. Two of the tracks were then taken to Portland, Maine for mastering by the legendary Grammy winner Bob Ludwig in preparation for radio release. The rest of the album was finalized by Jim Wilson at yet another Grammy winning hotspot, Airshow Mastering, in Boulder, Colorado. To top it all off, they get a little extra gravy from legendary drummer Tim Alexander (Primus) sitting in on a few tracks. The process has brought the band to an entirely new level according to Lance Bendiksen, owner of Bendiksen Productions. "They've been able to create a sound that's not like anyone else. You can pick out influences — yes, Primus, you even hear some Beatles in there, but it comes out sounding like Fred Green. And in an industry where everyone's looking for the next Coldplay or Dave Matthews copycats, Fred Green is the real deal." This album is a masterpiece of musicality and a testament to the future of the group.

Fred Green featured on the cover of the Phoenix New Times April 19th, 2007

Daughters of Fission

The Sea (.mp3)

Band Bio:

The music of Daughters of Fission resonates an emotionally driven sound that can alternately breeze in, rupture and roll, and fulminate into eclectic thunderbolts. Collectively, the band members express their beliefs and feelings through the music they create. Their emotional range travels from soothingly gentle to aggressively propulsive. Some of the songs express and explore personal encounters with universal conditions such as love, death, and the nature of reality and existence. Each selection on the debut album, Abandonatomy, offers a varied experience for the listener. The tracks off of the new upcoming (6/6/08) release "M.O.T.H." take this variance to a higher plane. Further exploring new aural vistas, many of the new songs tread far beyond traditionally accepted radio lengths and twist genres far beyond the allowance of most formats. They remain however, as testament to their un wielding defiance of "the norm". Instead of boring you with senseless personal blah blah, this Phx based band prefers to let their music speak for itself. Listen, Learn & Love, we are the Daughters of Fission.

Attack of the Giant Squid

Band Bio:
If you’ve never heard the virtuoso, all-instrumental work of Attack of the Giant Squid (which also includes Andy Haight, “aesthetic technician and sound FX,” drummer Noah Tallman and a horn section of Jeff Giroux and Shea Marshall), they’re not an easy band to pigeonhole into a genre, blending elements of free jazz, Hendrix-esque guitar riffs, layers of sonic cacophony, syncopated hard-rock runs, lush acoustic lines and psychedelic electronica, sounding unlike any other band in the Valley, or for that matter, any other band, period.

“We’ve approached songs a number of ways over the past four years, and we don’t like sticking to one formula for the most part,” Patino says of Attack of the Giant Squid’s complex compositions, which are honed through improvisation. “I could care less about what everyone else is doing and the band loves the idea of being able to do whatever it wants musically in the future."

“With today’s market of pop culture and media telling you how to feel, or what’s hip, you almost have nowhere to escape,” Patino says. “Maybe we’ll do a pop album at some point — who knows what we’ll feel like doing tomorrow, or even 10 to 20 years from now? That’s the fun part of all of this — living your work and dreaming about a vision.”
Maybe even get a singer?

We hope to see you all there and looks to be a great night of fun and entertainment. All benefiting The Foundation for Blind Children!

Isle of Essence

By the way (.mp3)

Band Bio:

Isle of Essence is a melting pot drawing from such styles as funk, rock, jazz and blues. With this soulful approach, they've fashioned a groove uniquely their own. Its hard to imagine such a distinct sound is produced by only four musicians: Duane 'Da Doc' Wissler on bass, Jeremy 'Sunstone' Perreira on vocals and guitar, Aaron 'Iron Clad' Moore on drums, percussion, and vocals and Richie ' FingAZ' Russo ..s. Only in sharing such a complete understanding & love for one another's music could they produce such intense melodies. With a strong belief in the message of their music, they simply wish for an opportunity to show the world.

Cunning as Folk

Why don't you save me
from my (.mp3)

Band Bio:

After spending years playing and performing hard, progressive and psychedelic rock; Briggs Cunningham and Alan Conquest have reached their 30's and as proud parents and both being married, their musical direction has changed with age and maturity.

“We are gathering music from our past that we grew up on and heard on the radio as children”. “Were pulling our influences from such acts as America, Crosby Stills & Nash, Doobie Brothers, Simon and Garfunkle, Joni Mitchell and the likes.” “We will be adding in many instruments and psycodelic dynamics with the help of today's technologies such as software like Reason.” “We will also add some of our musician friends as well”. “The music starts with the acoustic guitar, an idea or personal feeling and then vocals, what happens after that is up to the music.” - Briggs

While composing songs with a basic acoustic guitar and two male vocal melodies they have added and assembled elements and dynamics found in other musicians and technology. The songs are constructed much like that of a Master Mason building a temple with a firm foundation and then letting his talents flourish without regard. The production is polished, thick, esoteric and dynamic. Both men have played music for many years live and in studio. They look forward to what “Cunning as Folk” will bring to the already recording works of their past. Briggs was the vocalist for two well respected bands “Keddah” & “Heroes for Ghosts” as Alan has played as a free agent with many groups and circles of people as a singer song writer. They are currently writing and recording while communicating with friends around the globe via the www. They are also working with guest musicians from their past in their studio in Ocotillo Arizona USA. Look for a full length release on “Say Something Records” – Late 2008/Early 2009. Two singles will surface soon so please check back often. – Multus Amor
